”Vi er begge enormt glade,” lyder det fra Emil Bæhr Christensen.
Sammen med studiekammeraten Mathias Rose har han skrevet bachelorprojektet ”Peanuts – a digital investment concept" ved IT-Universitet i København (ITU).
Projektet er netop blevet kåret af Finanssektorens Arbejdsgiverforening (FA) som årets bedste af sin slags indenfor it-finans.
”Når man har arbejdet på et projekt i lang tid, stirrer man sig lidt blind og kan hurtigt komme til at synes, at alt, hvad man er kommet frem til, virker meget banalt. Derfor er det rart at få anerkendt projektet af Finanssektorens Arbejdsgiverforening,” fortsætter Emil Bæhr Christensen.
Prisen blev uddelt onsdag på it-konferencen Finance IT Day og udløser udover æren en kontantpræmie på 30.000 kr. til de to bachelorer.
Peanuts
Bachelorprojektet handler om, hvordan banker kan anvende moderne teknologi til at øge og fastholde unges interesse for investeringer i aktier og obligationer. Løsningen er et investeringskoncept, som de to prisvindere i deres bachelorprojekt kalder for ’Peanuts’.
Peanuts-konceptet er udviklet på baggrund af en række undersøgelser, som de to ITU-studerende har lavet, og er målrettet det relativt store segment af unge i alderen 18-30, som endnu ikke har givet sig i kast med at investere på egen hånd.
”Vi identificerede, at målgruppen har behov for mere indflydelse og bedre overskuelighed end nuværende investeringsservices tilbyder. Det forsøger konceptet blandt andet at imødekomme ved at tilbyde og overskueliggøre investering i tematiserede indeksfonde som fx “Grøn Energi” eller “Teknologi”, således at brugeren har indflydelse, samtidig med at porteføljen diversificeres,” forklarer Mathias Rose.
Emil Bæhr Christensen uddyber:
”Konceptet forsøger desuden at fjerne nogle af de vidensbarrierer, målgruppen oplever i forhold til at begynde investering. Der er masser af artikler, hjemmesider og information om investering derude, men målgruppen har behov for at forstå det i en personlig kontekst. Derfor indeholder vores koncept en robo-advisor funktion, der på baggrund af Open Banking data kan give målgruppen viden om investering i en personlig og mere meningsfyldt kontekst.”
Mathias Rose og Emil Bæhr Christensen understreger, at netop Open Banking og PSD2-lovgivningen skaber mulighed for at realisere koncepter som deres.
Måske en fremtid i finanssektoren
Den prisvindende bacheloropgave blev afleveret og bedømt på ITU i juni.
I dag studerer Mathias Rose på London School of Economics & Political Science, mens Emil Bæhr Christensen arbejder som app-designer på et københavnsk bureau, der udvikler produkter til blandt andet Apple’s platforme.
De to vil dog ikke udelukke en karriere i finanssektoren på et senere tidspunkt.
”Finanssektoren er utrolig spændende. Den er jo fundamental for vores samfund på makroniveau. Derfor kunne det helt sikkert være interessant at kombinere interessen for teknologi og innovation i et job i sektoren på et tidspunkt,” siger Mathias Rose.
Emil Bæhr Christensen er enig:
”Det er en sektor, hvor man har muligheden for at arbejde på noget, der har indflydelse på stort set alles liv, enten i form af det daglige forbrug eller de lange seje træk som investering og pension.”
Der er en række betingelser, som skal være opfyldt, for at et projekt kan komme i betragtning til prisen som årets bachelorprojekt.
Projektet skal blandt andet været skrevet af ITU-studerende og omhandle muligheder og udfordringer ved at bruge it i den finansielle sektor, ligesom projektets indhold skal være relevant for en eller flere virksomheder i finanssektoren.
I år kom fem bachelorprojekter igennem nåleøjet til vurdering hos dommerpanelet.
